PRIVACY POLICY

Last updated: March 16, 2026

THE SHORT VERSION

DarkPixel does not collect, store, transmit, or sell any user data. Period.

WHAT WE COLLECT

Nothing is collected automatically. The only data we receive is what you explicitly choose to send via the optional Report Issue feature in our desktop apps. See the Desktop Apps section below for details.

HOW OUR TOOLS WORK

All DarkPixel tools run entirely on your machine. They do not send data to any external server. Any settings or preferences are stored locally on your device and never transmitted anywhere.

DESKTOP APPS

DISK SCANNER

Disk Scanner runs entirely on your machine. All scanning, visualization, and file operations happen locally. Settings and preferences are stored in your browser's localStorage and never transmitted.

The app checks for updates by fetching a single JSON file from darkpixel.io on startup. No telemetry, no usage data, and no identifying information is sent with this request.

REPORT ISSUE FEATURE

Disk Scanner includes an optional "Report Issue" feature that lets you send feedback directly from the app. When you submit a report, the following is sent to darkpixel.io:

  • Your description of the issue (what you typed)
  • App version, platform (macOS/Windows), language, and theme
  • The last 25 lines of your debug log (only if logging is enabled and you leave the toggle on)

This data is used solely to create a private issue on our development repository so we can fix bugs. No IP address, device identifier, account, or personally identifiable information is collected or stored by our code. Reports are fully anonymous.

The report is transmitted via our Vercel-hosted API. Vercel may log standard request metadata (IP address, timestamp) as part of their infrastructure. DarkPixel does not access or use this data.

BROWSER EXTENSIONS

DarkPixel browser extensions only communicate with the websites they are designed to work with, using your existing logged-in session. They do not access any other websites, do not collect browsing history, and do not transmit any data to DarkPixel or any third party. All preferences are stored locally via your browser's built-in storage.

BANDCAMP DOWNLOADER

The Bandcamp Downloader extension communicates exclusively with bandcamp.com using your existing authenticated session. It does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information, browsing history, health data, financial data, authentication credentials, communications, location data, or user activity.

Data stored locally on your device via chrome.storage.local:

  • Your preferred audio format (e.g. FLAC, MP3 320)
  • Your preferred simultaneous download count (1–3)
  • Your Bandcamp username (for the popup "Go to Collection" link)
  • Temporary download tracking data (cleared automatically when downloads complete)
  • Your theme preference (light or dark mode)
  • Your language preference (one of 14 supported languages)

This data never leaves your machine. It is not transmitted to DarkPixel, Bandcamp, or any third party.

Permissions used: storage (local preferences), downloads (file downloads via Chrome), alarms (keepalive for download tracking), host access to bandcamp.com (collection data and download URLs). No other permissions are requested.

THIRD-PARTY SERVICES

The DarkPixel website is hosted on Vercel. Vercel may collect standard server logs (IP addresses, request timestamps) as part of their hosting infrastructure. DarkPixel does not access or use this data. See Vercel's Privacy Policy for details.

CHANGES

If this policy ever changes, it will be updated on this page with a new date. Given that we collect nothing, changes are unlikely.
